Oct. 6 All Candidates Forum

Sooke Together candidates look forward to meeting you at the next All Candidates Forum on Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 9pm at EMCS.

We will not be participating in the Sept. 29 All Candidates Meeting being organized by a group called TACS.

We believe all-candidates forums are an important part of local elections, but we also believe they should be organized and moderated by people who can reasonably be seen as impartial. In this case, both the organizer and moderator have strongly expressed views about local political issues and candidates. We have also been unable to find much public information about TACS, its membership or how it operates.

Taken together, we don't have confidence that this event meets the standard of independence and impartiality we would expect from an all-candidates meeting.

Our candidates participated in the all-candidates event on Sept. 19 and will be there for the Oct. 6 event at EMCS. Beyond those, we want to spend our limited campaign time out in the community – knocking on doors, attending community events and talking directly with Sooke residents. We look forward to seeing you on Oct. 6.
