Meet Brian McHattie

You may have met Brian at the door by now, but here's a little more about what he brings to Sooke Together.

Brian has spent decades helping communities think about the future. As a Registered Professional Planner, former Hamilton City Councillor and Parks Canada planner, Brian’s worked on many of the same issues Sooke is dealing with today – transportation, economic development, environmental protection, and responsible growth.

Since moving to Sooke early last year, Brian has jumped right into community life, volunteering with ALM Organic Farm, Friends of Eagle Bluffs Forest Society, Sooke Streamkeepers, and the Jack Brooks Salmon Hatchery.

Brian brings something particularly valuable to the Council table: he knows how local government works, and he understands the importance of planning beyond the next four years. For Brian, good planning means making practical decisions today while keeping an eye on the Sooke we'll leave to the next generation.

Because Sooke deserves thoughtful planning.
