Why four?

Forming Sooke Together wasn't our original plan. But this election is different.

With a seven-person slate that appears to be well funded and heavily backed by building and development interests, we knew Council candidates running alone would be at a real disadvantage. We needed to work together to have the strength and reach to offer Sooke voters an alternative.

We believe in respecting the plans shaped by our community, budgeting responsibly for Sooke’s future, and putting the needs of our community – not the priorities of developers – at the heart of Council decisions. So we joined forces, but stopped at four.

We share values and a belief in how Council should work, while each bringing our own experience, perspective, and judgment. We also want to leave room at the Council table for other voices, including an independent Mayor.

On October 17, vote Sooke Together: Helen Ritts, Steve Sorensen, Susan Belford and Brian McHattie for Council.
