Sooke is growing. We can’t turn back the clock, but we can ensure that what comes next supports the community we want and the services we need.

It’s not only about the right development in the right place. It’s about growth paying its fair share.

In the past, that hasn’t always happened. Projects moved forward without adequately contributing to infrastructure like sidewalks, parks, and trails.

Development added homes but not always safer routes to school, or more emergency services or road capacity for a growing population.

Community vision requires planning for development before it happens, and ensuring new development contributes to the infrastructure it requires.

Our community already has plans and a vision. Development should help deliver them, not continually ask us to compromise them.
