Sooke isn’t a development project

Sooke isn’t a development project. It's our home.

Sooke needs new homes, thriving local businesses and a stronger commercial tax base. Developers are important partners in making that happen.

But Council's job is to represent the public interest – the community at large.

That means listening to residents, respecting community-created plans, applying the rules fairly, and asking who pays and who benefits.

Supporting development doesn't mean supporting every development proposal. And expecting development to follow community plans doesn't mean opposing growth.

Someone's desire to maximize their profit shouldn't override the community plans we've worked together to create.

Development interests deserve a voice at the table. They shouldn't own the table.

On October 17, vote Sooke Together: Helen Ritts, Steve Sorensen, Susan Belford and Brian McHattie for Council.
