So much to be thankful for
This Thanksgiving, we're feeling especially grateful.
First, for this beautiful place we call Sooke. The forests, ocean, rivers, hills and the wonderful community we're fortunate to call home.
To the T’Sou-ke Nation, on whose traditional territory we live, thank you for your generosity, patience and leadership as we sometimes stumble on the journey toward truth and reconciliation.
To everyone who has opened their door to us over these past weeks – thank you. For your openness, your interest, your questions and your conversations. Even when we don't agree, we've appreciated the chance to learn from one another.
And to our extraordinary volunteers. Where do we even begin? The creativity, talents, ideas, enthusiasm and countless hours you've contributed have been incredible. Running a campaign is an enormous undertaking, but you've somehow managed to make it joyful. We couldn't have done this without you.
And we're thankful for each other.
Steve, for his weekly campaign meeting muffins, his steady, calm presence, his humour and his quiet, get-it-done leadership.
Susan, for her passion and compassion, for always speaking up for those whose voices aren't being heard, and for her unwavering belief that there's a better way.
Brian, for his knowledge and experience, his gift for making complicated ideas understandable, and his ability to see the bigger picture and think about the long term.
Helen, for bringing us together, keeping messaging on track, and for her humour, determination and unwavering belief in us all.
Four different people, each bringing something special to this campaign. And a whole community of wonderful people helping us along the way.
Whatever the next week brings, we have so much to be thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving, Sooke. We're grateful to call this place home.
Susan, Brian, Helen and Steve
