Safer streets in our neighbourhoods
Speeding and safety on neighbourhood streets – especially around our schools – is something we've heard about again and again at the door.
We want to look at each school and the neighbourhoods around it and identify what gets in the way of kids walking or biking safely.
Sometimes it's speeding. Sometimes it's a missing sidewalk or pathway, an unsafe crossing, drop-off congestion, or one missing connection.
And this isn't only about kids. Our neighbourhood streets should feel safe for people walking, cycling, or using mobility devices.
The solutions won't be the same everywhere. Traffic calming, safer street design, better crossings and targeted enforcement all have a role.
Start with the places people feel unsafe. Then fix what will make the biggest difference.
